Guru's, AppNair,
How do I selectively hide display function menu (function menu-->properties) such as Holds, Records Details, XReference, Provenance and Classifications.

Right now each user can hide these tabs. But is there a way as admin somebody can enable a specific group alone to see say Record Details tab and Holds tab and another user to see just Holds tab.

We are trying to demo RM for a small group and as such want this group alone to see these functionality. I tried working on the user object privileges but I guess that is applicable internal to RM objects rather than to tab hide/display itself.

Globally as administrator it seems we can enable say Records detail tab or Holds tab as per the note at I am not able to find the Group functions choice that Tracy is mentioning. We are in 9.7 SP1 and RM 4.1.0 and in this version is there something on the lines that Tracy is mentioning?

Thanks in advance

go into a usergroup and look in the left frame when you are as if editing the group. If RM is installed you will see RM Group functions people needed to be provided with.If the Group does not get "Holds" they do not see it.Tracy is talking about "Functional Access".However this could hurt you if you do not know livelink permissions and privileges well.If userid concerned has SA privs on his/her id no matter what you do they will see everything. Also if userid is part of the Records Managers group then functional access restrictions won't matter.Test that with a very simple userid with just login and Public access and fine tune your requirement.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

awesome AppNair. I am able to zoom in now on the menu items. Thanks for your continuous updates. Much appreciated.

One quick question AppNair. I was able to control the RM tabs via Group Access (of group after enabling function access for RM on the admin side).

Is there any way we can also do the same thing for classifications tab (the tab that comes if classifications module is installed).

Classifications form the basis for RM Classifications. You cannot put RM on livelink unless classifications are installed. Why do you think "classifications" should be shielded. It is a very powerful end user tool.As like any object classification is permission based so if you do not want people to "re-classify" them just don't allow them.Perhaps use "Virtual Folders" and familiarize yourself to the benefits of classification that is all I can think off :)

You are right AppNair. I just realised that it makes no sense to hide Classifications if RM is being piloted to a group of users. I have briefed the team on this.

We were also thinking of VF, but looks like we can live with cats/atts and/or classifications.

Thanks for your quick response.
