Hi,

I have one machine running XP Home Edition with a shared internet connection, with the firewall enabled. Another machine running Win98 is connected via an internal LAN which obtains its IP address from the XP Home Edition automatically.

On the Win98 machine, when in Internet Explorer, the google homepage comes up fine and also the results page. Yet when I click on a link in the results page IE just hangs. e.g. cannot get to ... even if I directly enter it in the address bar.

Did a tracert on the Win98 machine to and that worked fine. XP Home Edition machine works fine when using the net.

It appears to me that the DNS resolution is working fine BUT the accessed site cannot serve the page ???

Any help to crack the problem with my Win98 machine, gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation , Rajesh
