selection tool 1

Only been using illustrator for a couple of days now. At first, I was able to make a rectangle, or text box, click on the "selection tool (V)", click back on the rectangle and resize the shape using control points located on the corners AND middle of the sides.

Now when I make a rectangle and try to reshape it I don't get the same control points on the sides... I can't reshape it. I can only move it when I click on the corner control points.

Does this make sense? Can anyone help me!?!?!?

...choose view > show bounding box...

...sounds to me this has been accidentally turned off...

...note there are two selection tools the white one for selecting points and the black one for selecting groups or whole objects...

...most users however only use the white tool (A key), then switch on the fly by pressing the command/control key...
