Selecting which OS to Boot

This should be an easy one - I think.

When booting, I can access the BIOS with the delete key, but when presented with the choice of which OS to boot, either XP or Vista, I get no keyboard response, and it always times out into the new Vista install. So it's as if the keyboard is responsive at one point, but not the next. It works fine after full boot into Vista.
