Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could help me with a problem I'm having. I have a Win 2000 pc with an NEC flat screen monitor and a Matrox Dualhead adapter (although I only have one monitor). Other guys in the office have a very similar setup to me, although the majority of them have 2 screens (hence the dualhead adapter). If you access the menu on the flatscreen, you can adjust the volume and listen to CD's, music etc by plugging earphones in to the socket on the flatscreen. Some of the PC's, including mine, play music through the main PC speaker and not through the flatscreen. I have compared the playback settings on a PC that plays through the monitor and my PC that plays throught the main speaker on the desktop. Both PC's are set to play through the PC speakers, and yet one plays through the monitor. How can this be? And where should I go to select which source (i.e. desktop or flatscreen)plays music?

Any help would be much appreciated.

It's not the software you need to look at - it's the Plugs. Your monitor should have at least 3 plugs (Power Cable, VGA/DVI Adapter, and a 3.5mm Jack for the Speakers). Make sure that it is the Monitor Speaker Plug that is in the "Line Out" Socket of the PC, and not the Desktop Speakers' plug.
