Okay,

In follow up to a very recent post, we think that we've found a way to create either A or A4 sized PCL documents when printing to a printer driver. We have installed a couple of drivers and set every parameter that we can set via the GUI (on Windows XP and we hope this works on 2000) to have A4 as the default paper size. The normal was Letter (which is A).

This seems to result in A4 sized PCL output. The size of the PCL is right and all the content is there (compared to when we were getting Letter sized output which was the wrong size and missing content). Perhaps someone can comment if they've done this on Windows 2000.

I'm left with somehow ensuring that the printers we send the PCL documents to select the right paper (A4 or A). We do this via the copy command, so we have no control at that point. I'm going to have our people test today to see if they do. I also see that there are PCL escapes that attempt to specify this (PJL and PCL). Can anyone tell me if (from their experience) printers will automatically select the right paper for a PCL document?

We mostly have HP, but some Lexmark.
