selecting only data where discharge date is null

I need a list of all patients who have not been discharged from my clinic. I can get a list of all patients but I want to go into the "select expert" and select only those patients where history_client_med_order . v_disch_date is null.

isnull(history_client_med_order . v_disch_date)

That didnt seem to work the error I am getting when I use
isnull{history_client_med_order.v_disch_date} is "the remaining text does not seem to be part of the formula and
{history_client_med_order.v_disch_date} is highlighted.

you need to use () around your field. I did not inlude {} in my example.
