selecting entry containing text, Select Expert, formula

How do i use the select expert (use of formula) to select entries of text containing specific words, such as a full text search in, say, Acrobat? I tried playing around with the "like" option, but it wasn't really working for me, and I get the feeling I'm missing something! One can use the find feature to find a specific word of phrase, however, I want to be able to do this within the select expert.. if anyone has a formula they would like to share... Thanks!!

Instr() is the key here. Instr(String,Substring) will return the starting position as an integer of where the substring is found, or a zero if the substring is not found.

Instr({MyStringField},"XY")>0 will evaluate to true when the substring "XY" is found and will only return those records.
