I am trying to put together a system to do low end video editing (for family mainly). I want to do it as cheaply as I can. Here is what I was thinking so far:

ECS K7S5A mobo
AMD 1600
256MB DDR
60GB 7200 HD
Video card??

I have been inundated by reviews plus most only want to talk about the latest and greatest while I am willing to just make do (if the price is right).

If anyone could give me some advice especially on video card but also on other things to think about I would greatly appreciate it.

well if your going to do low-end video, den u sud juss buy a 16-32 mb video card, nothing really fancy. most likely u can by a 32mb easier dan a 16 since its kinda old. the 32mb is pretty cheap, around 40 and up neways

you should get the shuttle ak35gtr with the amd 1700+ since da 1900 is pretty cheap now, its under 100. i think its easier if you find the combo for it. that motherboard is very good as well, very cheap mite i add, its prob the cheapest and best one for the buck.

you can get a 120 gb hdd for not that much higher than a 60 gb. go to pricewatch.com and you choose since they have a list of different hdds you can pick from. usuallie 120 7200rpm is the best value, around 140 bucks w/ shipping and handling.

hope this was helpful

What operating system will you be using? If you're looking for a good card at a decent price, you can pick up a GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB video card on pricewatch for about $135...which is definetly a good deal for that type of card. I've already bought 2 for my systems. If that's more than your willing to spend, another recommendation would be to get the GeForce 4 MX 440 64MB. That only runs at around $53 on pricewatch. Also...what type of programs will you be using to do your video editing? The specs you have listed above should be good enough for a system. Here's the link for pricewatch...
