Cannot seem to find the documentation on this one ?

I use the tool " Select shapes from image " ~ what next ?

I am trying to crop a shape from the primary image to leave me with the
selected shape and a transparent background so that I can later
transpose the image onto or under another image to achieve a final
result of one image from two images.

Once you've marked the area, click in it to turn it to a selection and you should see the marching ants outline.
Then Edit->Copy and Edit->Paste as New.
You should see a new copy of your image appear with a checkerboard background where you wanted transparency.

Voila!

"Then Edit->Copy and Edit->Paste as New."

Personally, with an image like that, I think you'd be better selecting "by color" and just deleting that.
You need to ensure that the layer has it's alpha channel enabled.

Sorry, I should have made it more clear.
You could select "by color" the background since it's all white and then just "cut" it.

That isn't the actual image, that was an easy one to I could demonstrate what happens. For the other image i think i would have to use the magic scissors.
