Each monthend we create a DBF file with client holdings as at that date. The files are named HLD0309.dbf (for Sept. 03), HLD0212.dbf (for Dec. 02)etc. Question. How can I select the appropriate file with a parameter. i.e. Year_mth 0309 would select the above file.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you can't from within Crystal.

I would suggest that your process rename the existing file, and always write to a common name.

You can do this with external code, or you can manually use the Database->Set Location to point to the new table.

You can do it with a custom viewer as at run time, you can identify the DBF the report is looking for, and replace it with a different file location.

I'm already doing this with cView (my report viewer) and cViewMANAGER (my report scheduler). for further details
