Selected Property Doesn't work

I've done it successfully in '97, but ever since i can't get it to work right.

That is:
Me.Invoicing_Contacts.Selected(x) = -1 or TRUE

I'm using 2002 but it shouldn't matter with 2000

I am looking for an absolutley successgul example of automating the selection of an item on a listbox. The above code works but the the list box freezes. If i leave that "selecting" line of code out the listbox won't freeze
