In illustrator there is a command which enable you to select many objects which have the same fill colour (Select>same>fill colour).

This is really handy for rapdily makiing colour changes throughout a document. Is there a similar feature in InDesign?

For example, I have a doocument that currently features CMYK colours - I want to rapidly change them all to PMS colours. What is the fastest way to do this?

It's done in you swatches pallet.

Click on the swatch you want to change then click on the little arrowy thingy in the top right hand side of the swatches pallet, then got down to swatch options.

Once that window pops up you can change the colour space from CMYK to Pantone Solid Coated then choose the colour you want.

This will replace your old CMYK colour with the new Pantone

Gee, thanks.

It's annoying that the location of this functionality is not consistent throughout Creative Suite.

Thanks again.

Actually, that still doesn't seem to solve my problem.

I have a series of CMYK ob ject, which I have to change to PMS - HOWEVER, the PMS I wish to change these objects to is already used elsewhere in my document, hence ID will not permit me to change my CMYK swatch to the corresponding PMS, as it will create a duplicate PMS.

Any ideas?

Let's suppose you have used a certain color to fill every other row in a table and have filled objects with the same color. Some of the filled objects have a stroke and some don't. Now, I need to change the filled objects to a fill of none and add a stroke.

In Illustrator I would have said select same fill and stroke and made my change. I am using IDCS 3.0.1 and tried to use your advise in this thread but it isn't quite what I need. Any other suggestions?

Illustrator and ID have different features. One does things the other can't and visa versa. After all, Adobe wants you to buy both.

ID has superb table setup and editing features. If, however, there's something better or easier done in Illustrator, you can always dreate the object in AI and insert it into your ID doc. If you want to edit it, simply select Edit Original from the links palette.

Sure, I understand but I am still looking for a solution to this. I own both programs and there isn't an issue with drawing, someone decided to make this change after my book was created. On average, I have about 25 of these objects per page in a book with 100+ pages and since the objects are unique using Illustrator would still be a lot of work. I'm pretty sure there has to be a script for something like this, I just don't have enough experience in scripting to write the code. I thought I had overlooked a feature in ID, after reading this thread.
