I am trying to develop a database for keeping my microbiological results.
My question is how to provide the user with the ability to define all the fields that he wants to be on a report at runtime.

What I need (I think) is this:

By pressing a button a form appears with all the available fields listed
The users checks all the fields he wants to be listed in the report
The report is filtered and there no gaps between the fields

Thanks in advance

What you are asking for is a report generator where the user can select fields from a table, select a sorting scheme, and print the rows.

What you asking for in code is quite complex. I have done this before but there is a considerable amount of design work that is necessary.

My recommendation for this would be to make a new database with just the linked tables to the datafiles necessary. Teach your staff to use the Reports Wizard where they can select fields from a pick-list of elements and display in a number of layout schemes.

By using the power of the ACCESS report Wizard you are giving your staff the flexibility that you want. Bob Scriver
