Hi. Using Crystal 9 and an xl spreadsheet as my database. I have a field with customer names and I want to select a small group of these names for reporting. When I go to select expert and choose those customers as "is one of", a couple of the names aren't there to select?!? Yet if I don't use "select expert", the (select expert) missing names do appear on the report.

I'm stumped.

I went to another report I use frequently and it looks like I'm having the same problem there too....not all the names I want to select (via select expert)are available to be picked.

Ideas, anyone?

hi. thanks for the quick response. no i don't have more than 500 unique values in the field i'm selecting. i appreciate the thought though.

It sounds as if you're going to the select expert and making a change every time you want a different set of customers. You'd probably find it easier to create a parameter, allow multiple values, and set the select expert to:

customername field equal to {?CustomerParameter}

That way you'll be prompted each time you run the report to select one or more customers.

I suspect that you'll have the same problem with missing values, but you might not. Depending on how often you add new customers, you can import those values into the parameter which will definitely display them all.

I found my problem...

If you encounter the same problem, make sure you go to "report options" and check "select distinct data for browsing". Doing that solved the problem.
