SELECT dropdown list size?

Is there a way to code for a SELECT box's dropdown list size, similar to the way MSAccess controls its combobox?

By that, I mean only one item is displayed in the box on the browser page with a down arrow. When the down arrow is selected only, say 8 items, will be displayed with a scroll bar to access the remainder of the list.

When I use the SIZE property of the SELECT element it permanently displays that number of items in a vertically expanded box. That's not what I would like to show since it visually distorts the page.

Thanks for any insights.

I've never heard of this within a web application. It's probably not something you can set, because it's the host operating system that looks after rendering these form elements (and as a result varies from OS to OS).

Cheers,
Jeff

feherke & BabyJeffy,

Thanks for your response. I expected that this was the case, but I just wanted to be sure.
