Select Date

Hi, i have a database with news articles on that are stored with a date, in the date type i.e. 0000-00-00 but how can i do a search to select articles that were added in May 2003. Is this possible or do i need to change around how my table works??

Assuming the column storing your date is called "thedate":

WHERE month(thedate) = 5 and year(thedate) = 2003
