I am trying to target specific contacts within each company record for a blast email. I used the Reference (contsupref) field to store the criteria.
Each company record is tagged with a field indicating they get our newsletter, but each contact is tagged with the name of their salesperson, so that each contact gets a customized letter from the person who manages that particular relationship. My theory was if I built a group based on supplemental contacts with a reference of "Joe" and then filtered it on newsletter=yes, I would get Joe's newsletter email list. However, I now see that the group building function finds a supplemental contact that meets my criteria and then adds the company to the group. This won't work because I can only use the primary contact, or all the contacts, and not just the contacts tagged to Joe.
I am thinking a SQL query might be the best way to do this, any suggestions? I also can't figure out from the manual what field is used to store the email address.
We are GM 6 BCM SQL.
Thanks!
