Hi,
I run a program on a database called jbase and I got a segmentation violation. Can anyone help me on output of truss utility? I cannot attach the whole file because it is almost 40mb.
OS is AIX 5.3
Thanks in advance,
George

George, I have the same situation in Jbase 3.4.8. The distribution algorithm subroutine is compiled and cataloged. The distributed file is very large. Did you ever find any other causes?
Thanks,
Charlie

Hi,

I often have seen problems of segmentation violation on bad writen prog that dont control the return of malloc. So, in this case, could be a memory allocation problem, therefore, a (bad) bypass could be to "unlimit" the user on stack.
Sorry for not answering your question directly (i wont be good at teaching you on truss, there are certainly a lot of skillfull people around here !!)
Thats my 2 cents...
