We are about to segment our network into 4 subnets. Using NT 4 we will place a BDC in each subnet with a PDC in the subnet that contains the firewall. We will install DHCP in each subnet. Then we will setup the routers accordingly. My questions is since we will be moving to Win2K in the next several months is there a better way to segment a network into 4 subnets in terms of how Win2K works? Could the BDC's be replaced by DC's and then build sites within each subnet?

Thanks for any ideas.

In windows 2000 there they don't talk about PDC and BDC, they are all DC's. Now, you can divide your network in that manner and it wil work fine. However why would you use 4 different DHCP servers. You can manage it with one dhcp server and bootp forwarding on the routers to make it work for the four subnets if you like. For windows 2000 i would make one domain and i would devide the domain in 4 OU's. 1 OU for each subnet.

and accordinlgy you can create 'sites' in your AD (a site per subnet) so you can enhance the replication between your DC's... Peter Van Eeckhoutte
