I have just upgraded to a 60GB hard drive from a 15. I upgraded the bios to recognise a large drive but it will seem to lose a partition and give me a invalid media error after a reboot. This is a dtk mobo with i440bx chipset and an award bios. I can format and run setup but at reboot its all gone. I'm trying to install 98se then upgrade to xp cause this is the disks I have and I need to take this route. Before the bios upgrade it would not auto detect the ide drive but after it would. So I assume my flash worked. By all looks it was successful and problem free. So I don't understand why the drive is being so difficult.

Go straight to booting from the XP upgrade, it should ask you for the 'qualifying' OS disc later. Win98's Fdisk has a problem with large drives.

Andy.
