Seeking php/odbc GURU!!

Call to undefined function: odbc_connect() in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/phpstuff/test1.php on line 42

What does this mean? We are trying to connect into a SQL2000 box via OpenRDA unix odbc drivers. The calls are being made via a php script. PHP however works great generated info on the fly straight to the webserver. Anyone ever hook into a SQL Server 2000 database via php?

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!!
