I'm an information developer at IBM, working on IBM Director. Our team would *very* much like to hear about people's experience with IBM Director (what features do you find most useful, what doesn't work, etc.) as we redesign the documentation and online help.

I can be e-mailed directly at keberlei@us.ibm.com, if you would prefer to respond in that way. Thanks in advance.

I find every feature very useful. But the event generation isn't so user friendly. I would like to know how to activate an event everytime a user starts a program which isn't allowed. Thanks!

I have worked with Compaq server for the past 7 years but now my company is buying IBMs. I have used Compaq insight Manager (CIM-32)and find it very easy to use as well as our operations department.

I have installed IBM Director and while it offers a lot more than CIM-32, I can't get it to generate alerts to a pager, when I intentionally create a failure, I have to manually look at the log to see that the event happened.

I know that is someting I'm overseeing that is making the transision so difficult, but I just can't see where it is that I can tell Director to send out a page with the event.
thanks

Hello,

Been working with Director for about a year, we have incorporated it as the product to monitor CPU, RAM, Disk space and Windows services/processes.

I would like it to be more "web-happy", to be able to look at more information via the web site.

I would also like to have more information stored in the Database (thresholds, event actions, actions, tasks, etc). And be able to report on which system has what setup as far as monitoring and thresholds are concerned.

All in all, it's a great product and we have all but dropped Unicenter in favor of Director.

thanks

chris
