I have a table in sqlserver the content of which I would like to make available in oracle as a view. Any idea how I can do that?

I think this will require you to install Oracle Transparent Gateway for MS SQL Server. After you get it installed and configured, you can create a db link to the SQL Server database and use the link to retrieve data. That includes defining a view on a remote table, if desired.

Karluk,

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I will do as you suggested.

Our company wont buy Transparent Gateway for Ms SQL Server, so how else will I be able to extract data from a SQL Server database into an Oracle table (on unix)?

Can I still use the ODBC gateway for this (never used it b4 thought)?

Any tips or resources are gratefully received!

Cheers
