I have just installed Red Hat Linux 5 and I plan to go online with it and set up some kind of remote login. My question is not about doing this but is about how secure it will be. Someone told me that Linux is very open to brute force attack, is this true? Are there any other security issuse I should be aware of and finaly are there any sites that have some good security tutorials I can read?

Any help you can give would be useful

Thankyou Andrew

Oh, mY. Why the heck redhat 5? there are a lot of bugs and there will be a lot of updating for you. U wanna the list? .. ;-)

If you have old hw (like 386/old_486) take rh6.2 or better freebsd, if you have 486/100MHz/32ram you can also take the new redhat and install just what ya' need.
