I have tried all the helpful suggestions to try to be able to update data in a form that I created from a query, but still get "Recordset not updateable". After poking around in the Security settings of Access, I noticed that under User and Group permissions, Database, table, query boxes are checked to allow updating data. The forms , reports, and macros categories have these boxes greyed out with no checks in update data. This seems to be a default setting with Access at my workplace and on my home pc with my own personal copy of Access. Does this actually hinder you from being able to update data in forms ? And if so, how can you get in there to check the update data settings ? Even the tech guys at work are stumped. Thanks.

I don't think your problem is related to the security settings in user-level security.

My guess is it is a problem with the type of query you are trying to update. If you have a GROUP BY clause specified, or if you have multiple joined tables in the query this is more than likely the source of your problem.

Your tech guys aren't finding it cos they're looking in the wrong place. ;)
