Hi All

We have an 2000 server here, When its at the login screen and you do a ctrl, alt and del you get a splash up windows with security details (the usual) then when you press ok you are able to log in, can anybody tell me how to change this pls, is it a reg entry or something else

Thanks

Held in the registry here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\LegalNoticeText

If controlled by a GPO, it's held at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system\LegalNoticeText, but you won't be able to get rid of it from here as the GPO will just put it back in. This is held in Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > Message text for users attempting to logon. This is usually done at the domain level but it could be set anywhere within Active Directory if you wanted different text for different types of machines.

Cheers, Antony
