Security problems

Hi all,

I bet this problem I am having has been solved many times before. I even looked at some other threads, but got too many results. Ok here is my problem:

I finished my ASP page and I get connect fine to most of my tables. However the 97 Access database has a table linked to it from another access database. Whenever I try to retrieve records from that linked table, following is the message that I get.

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\\012-TOR-W\C$\OFFLINE\STAT.MDB'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

I am 100% sure that some security issues are involved to solve this problem. I want all the users in my office to have access to this ASP page and its contents. I know that something settings have to be changed in Internet Information Server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible that someone has setup file permissions on the 012-TOR-W computer, but it is more likely that someone has that file opened in single user mode, or in design mode.

Well its not someone opening it in Design mode or any mode, because I closed it on 012 and then tried it and got the same result.

Are the databases located on the same server?

If not, the web server needs permissions to access data on the other server.

No they are on different servers. The one that is giving problems is the one located on the remote server. Actually on the local server there is a link table which resides on the remote server having permission problems.
How would I set permissions for that other table. It resides on a machine with Windows 2k

By default, IIS runs anonymous access under the guest acount "IUSR_COMPUTERNAME". You'll need to make sure that the guest group is allowed to access that share and directories/files, or setup a different account on both computers and apply the necessary security.
