I've got a security problem with Access 2002. I just created a few work groups and users, and I assiged them permissions. The database is located on an internal network, and when I open the database from my computer, everything works great. However, when anyone else opens the database, the security does not apply. It's like it is all just erased. The groups are gone, the users are gone. It's like it never existed. But when I log on using my account, the security applies again. Any ideas what might be going on. Do I need to go to each computer and assign security?

You need to copy the .MDW file from your PC to the folder with the database in, then set up a shortcut that uses the MDW file on the desktop or start menus of everyone who uses it to force it to use the security information file.

I can't find the .MDW file. Could you give me some help on how I can find that? Also, what's to prevent anyone from going onto the network, and simply clicking the database and opening it without going through the security file? Thanks

John

You can also run the MS Access Workgroup Administrator from each user machine to make sure their Access application is pointed to the correct security file.
