Security plugin for CE 8.5?

I wish to use an existing database to provide authentication and authority within CE 8.5, rather than the CE default methods.

Does this mean writing a new authentication plugin?

If so, where would I find resources for doing so? I checked the CE CD without success.

If not, how do I get CE to use my users/passwords and their rights?

Thanks for resoponding.

No, I want an alternative to the 3 standard plugins (CE, NT Authentication, LDAP), which are the default methods.

And I need a real interface, not URL passing, and we need to be able to provide both Authentication and Authority.

Any thoughts?

just use the admin portio of the ce 8.5 sdk - no need to write an entirely new authentication plugin.

I might, but I need something JAVA based, and the word is it's in BETA.

A plugin would simplify things greatly. This is for a commercial app.
