Hi

I am working on a compnay database which we use to convert into an MDE file. So I have the main Master MDB and then convert it to MDE. Within the MDB we have some modules which I change but when I convert it to MDE it is keeping the original modules.

I have noticed in the security the user admin (which I am using) in the Object Type Databse option as the Modify/ Design box unticked and greyed out. How can I get this box ticked. It may or may not have anything to do with the problem but I would like to know how to get the box ticked anyway.

Please advise and Thanks

Firstly, it sounds like maybe you're trying to make the changes in the MDE. I think you cannot make changes to it once it's an MDE, but only while it's an MDB. So you'll have to first make the changes in MDB mode, and THEN save to MDE. If you want 2 separate copies, just make a copy of the MDB before converting to MDE.

Regardless, I'm not 100% sure, as I've not personally even used an MDE format to date. Thought about it, but always wanted to be able to edit it, so left as MDB (or ACCDB with Ac2007).

If you need further help, you really need to ask this question in one of the Access forums. There are several dedicated forums just for Access.

If you click this link, you'll see all the forums for Access - pick the one you think fits your situation best and post there:

For future reference, to find a forum, type what you're looking for (usually just the product you're using - Microsoft Access for instance) in the 2nd search box at the top of the page, default is "find a forum" in the drop down - if it changes, change it back... then click "Go".

Based on your question, if it were me, I'd probably go with forum181
