I have an Access MDE file which links into a SQL server.
I would really like to have the security thightened up!

Problem is that if you create another mdb file, you can then link into this MDE file and copy all available tables.
By doing so, you have access to all tables (still attached to the SQL server) and can edit/insert/delete all records !

Is there a possibility to disallow linking to these tables, or another way to prevent users from doing so.
Thanks in advance...

D,

Is your mde secured? Get the ms access security faq and read it a few times. Then secure your mdb and turn that secured mdb into an mde.

Still, though, anyone who is willing to hack into your database will be able to get at that data. Access security keeps people from stumbling into data, and even keeps people from snooping. It does nothing to stop people from hacking.
