I have finally finished building my database. The problem I have encounterd is security. I seem to get it all right with the different users and their permissions. When I open the file I am prompted for my password and can login. I keep this database on the shared drive. However, when my co-workers go to the shared drive and open the database they aren't prompted for a password. I have a password setup for Admin so that's not it. Is there something I am missing? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

They should open the database via a shortcut.
Ask the access help for command line options

Hope This Helps, PH.

Probably you have not removed all rights on the database for user Admin, therefore other users can login via the default (and virgin) system.mdw file as Admin...

Read the security concepts more carefully and implement them properly. Otherwise, the database remains unsecured or you may throw yourself out of it.

Congrats Accessewbie on completing your project...

You will find this command line from various sources...
"DriveAndPathTo\msaccess.exe" "DriveAndPathTo\YourDB.mdb" /workgroup "DriveAndPatchTo\YourSecurityMDW.mdw"

Here are some links on Access security...

That is not the point...
The BIG problem is that opening the database without command-line options should not allow Admin to log on.
If users will open Access from the File menu (after having deleted the shortcut by mistake), they will use automatically their workgroup file.
