Good afternoon everyone. I have a question about how to configure this solution. Our company has an extranet website with several links. Right now our setup only allows users from within our network to access these links without prompting for username and password. The users can access the extranet from home but when they click the links the "page not found appears". Basically I want users to be prompted for username and password when they are at home but when they are in the office I want them to have access to the links without being prompted for username and password. How will i go about this? Thank you in advance.

We need a little more detail about your existing setup.
Is it pingable from outside? If so it's likely web server configs and/or dns configs. Sorry to give a generalized and vague answer but the more detailed your question, the more detailed an answer we can return.

Ok, here are some more details. We have an extranet with 2 links. One link for Webmail and the other for Company Directory. When users access the extranet from home and click the webmail link they are prompted for username and password (autenticated by Active Directory). When users access the extranet from home and click on the Company Directory link i want them to be promped for username and password (autentication by AD). Now here is where i am stuck, when users access the extranet from inside the domain (inside the office) and click on the Company Directory, i DO NOT want them to have to enter their username and password. How can i make this happen, i need some suggestions. Thank you. (Windows 2000 Network, Users Windows XP).

Ok. If they're inside the office, they should be using an intranet infrastructure and not the same extranet infrastructure they use when outside. Do you have a dns entry anywhere internally in your dns infrastructure that points to this resource?

Yes, we do have a DNS entry that points to this link (Company Directory).

As I recall, if you set up "integrated Windows authentication" on the server, it takes care of this for you. If the user is logged in, authentication is transparent. If not, they're prompted.

I also believe that is correct. We have a server set up that way and it works here.
