Were Running Aloha Back of House on an XP . Began moving the system over to a newer Windows 7 Pro. I finally got to the part where I needed to transfer the Sentinel USB Security Key Hasp from the old XP Pro (Server ) over to the new Windows 7 Pro which is becoming the new server.

I expected that when I plugged in the USB Hasp Key that the system would search for a driver and install them. But nothing happened. Following advice from an Aloha Support Document ID 11294 I went to (SafeNet) and downloaded the latest drivers for the USB Hasp Key yet still it's not recognized by the Windows 7 System.

Curiosity now has me thinking lets look at the Windows 7 Control Panel Programs and Features and sure enough their is a "Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.5.8 - SafeNet, Inc." listed as being installed. Yet Windows 7 is not recognizing it.

I replaced the HASP back on the old Windows XP System. Then, I went back to the Aladdin web site and downloaded their Diagnostics Utility Tool Version 1.3 and installed it.

Their diagnostic log file tells me that their is no Hasp installed, no driver installed and no driver registered. Likewise I did not find any such entries in the Windows XP Programs and Features listing.

I find it very interesting that for 3 and 1/2 years now we have been running this system including the addition of two more terminal licenses and a couple of software updates and all the while the Security Hasp has never been functioning and yet we have complete access to all the necessary FOH and BOH features.

Tomorrow I am going to test with the Windows 7 Pro newly installed BOH and see if it likewise will run without the Security Key Hasp.

Personally I would rather run without the Security Key Hasp. But I am concerned that someday the system might decide it needs the hasp to run.

Any suggestions. Our local Dealer wants $150 just to talk to me. I think that's ridiculous since we have been paying them over $1000 for each additional license and yet somehow the security doesn't work correctly.

They should be paying me for finding a flaw in their system.

We will be using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
I had heard of to many other complications in trying to use the 64 bit.
I also figured this old code is probably written for 32 bit.

Thanks for the Sentinel Pro Win 7 Driver though I think its the same as the one I already have installed.

also check your debout.srv. That will tell you if aloha sees the key. As long as its listed as a USB device, that's all you need. If Control service starts then is found the key and ne need to mess with it any further

is it a usb key or the parallel key? Are you getting a security key not found error when loading aloha manager or starting ctlsvr?
