So I've been having this problem for quite some time, and any help in the issue would be wonderful.

I built a database on a shared file server and I just recently secured it. The .MDW file is in my hard drive and I've assigned multiple permissions to different groups and users. My problem is that when other individuals sign on to the database, they're automatically signed on as admin. They don't even have the option to sign in using a user name. I've tried copying my .MDW file to their computer, but it's not doing anything. Do I have to go to each computer and assign permissions? There has to be an easy way to do this... anyone help please?!?!

Put the .MDW in the same shared drive as the .MDB and use a shortcut on each computer to force the other individuals to sign on.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Should the short cut be an .MDB file or an .MDW file? I thought I tried that already but when others tried to log on, they kept logging in as admin. They didn't even have the option to log on to anything else.?

The usual way:
"\path\to\local\msaccess.exe" /wrkgrp "\\server\share\database.mdw" "\\server\share\database.mdb"

Try using the MS Access Workgroup Administrator to point each user's Access application to the modified workgroup.

Good luck!
