I have been playing around with the security settings on a database getting it ready to dispatch.

I've not needed security before so it is a bit of a headspin, and I am getting myself in bother.

Initially I could not get any users to log in. I seem to have that sorted, but now I have secured all my databases, and I am not sure this is what I wanted to do. Could be but, the books are so explanatory.

I have created a seperate folder and placed my front end and backend in this folder. I have created an mdw file in this folder and told the backend to join it.

I have set up an admins account and logged in with this and then set up groups and users and assigned them permission, after a massive play around.

However, it appears I now have to log into all databases in all folders as they have all joined this workgroup, which was not my intent.

I am going to start again, but thought someone else might know what is happening.

Hi,

Try opening your database with this as the shortcut.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\foldername\filename.mdb" /wrkgrp C:\foldername\mdwfilename.mdw

I know this has worked for me, as other databases still use the default system.mdw file.

Hope it helps.
