Is there any reason why security groups should stay in the Users directory in AD? I want to create a new OU and put the security groups in it to make it easier to find/manage groups without having to sort through all the objects in Users.

thanks

The Users OU is just the default. You can create a new OU, assign a GPO and move users from Users to it. However, I wouldn't recommend moving system accounts ( like Administrator) but for any user accounts you created, go for it.
As far as system accounts, I haven't tried it so I don't speak from experience, but it just seems like a bad idea, doesn't it?

I was thinking more of moving groups, not users. I agree, I don't think it would be a good idea to move system user accounts.
