I've been rather curious about the possibilities of setting up a Windows XP installation on a thumb drive, and installing a bunch of scanner/fixer programs on the drive for when I work on computers for other individuals. Has anyone in these forums successfully setup one of these, and/or have any suggestions as to a detailed walk-through for doing this? I realize that this won't work necessarily on all computers, as some will not recognize a USB drive as a boot drive, regardless of what settings you change in the BIOS.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I've even seen articles about it but I've never done it.

NOktar,
Can you give some advice on the way you set it up on CD?

Maybe some steps as to how you did it?

Thanks. That's one of the options I've read about before. I need to give it a test run. I'll hopefully get around to that some time very soon...

BTW. Bart has a utility which allows you to copy a BartPE CD to a usb drive/stick and make it bootable... for that you need to read up on it on the Homepage (given above)...

Thanks for all the advice. This is something I know I really need to look into, with the number of computers I end up helping people with at times. I either have several at the same time, or none for a few weeks, it seems. [smile]
