I have two machines. One win2k server and the other is either ein2k pro or winxp pro. I want to encrypt/secure all traffic between the two. Mainly because I want to encrpyt the ADO traffic from excel on the client to the sql 200o on the server.
I do not know if there is any way of doing it SQL 2000 itself either administration or programming.
So, I want to encrypt all traffic between the 2 computers irrestpective. Now, I know there are GPOs and templates I can use for this (require security, client respond only, etc). The domain is in mixed-mode.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestion on how to set this up. Links, how-tos would be great.
Also, Please advise me if any such thing can be done in SQL 2000 itself.
Thanks.

Also, the client and server is not a part of the domain.
