Security and mail merge

I have an access 2000 project I am developing that is behaving oddly. Every couple of days I have to redo my references in the VB Editor and it wont mail merge. It says the db "has been placed in a state..." implying a security problem. I have not placed any securities on this DB yet!

This is very fustrating because I am not experienced enough to know where to look for the answer to these problems.
