Hi,

I thought I had it figured out nicely, but I ran into something new.

I secured a db (fe & be) under winXp using access 2000. The DB is developed in a2000. It is properly secured, I cannot open it without system db and login/pwd.

However, when I transfer the db to another pc with a2003, it opens without login/pwd/mdw.

Does anybody have a clue about this?

Im pretty sure the security settings do not exist within the database itself, the information is in system.mdw which was not altered on machine 2.

...forgot to mention, it is openend with a shortcut inclusing de /wrkgrp option.

I've build several multiuser db's - never had this problem. It is really puzzeling me.

what is shortcut's path?

What direction are your thoughts going? I believe to have a lot of experience with securing access db's and the nesc. shortcutpaths.
A shortcutpath only instructs access.exe to use a specific mdw. In my problem access 2000 cannot open without the (network) mdw, acc2003 however can.
