I tried to post this question a minute ago, but encountered some error. Sorry if you receive two similar questions from me.

I'm trying to set up an Acrobat file created in Excel that allows recipients to view the contents of the Acrobat file, but not reconstruct it with the full version of Acrobat.

In other words, I want people to be able to view the mailing list without allowing them to sort, create mailing labels or otherwise manipulate it. I suspect this has something to do with the "Save as" option.

If this is an Excel question, I apologize.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Open in Acrobat pro and go to File menu/Document properties.

Go to the Security part of the next window and pick Password protection form dropdown menu for Security Method.

In next window pick what you need under Permissions. Make sure to unchack anything you don't wnat people to do.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

jmgalvin - I've heard irrefutably that this method of protection is easily hacked even by the most novice user/hacker. Is there any other way without paying an exorbitant amount of money and/or forcing users to download extra software.

I've been doing some research and keep hitting dead ends. If anyone has any info or has had success with a 3rd party software I'd love to hear it.
