Secured access database for two different users

We have two users using one cpu. One of the users uses a database that you must have a login and password to get into the database (part of a workgroup). This is set up as a shortcut. The other user wants to use Access for other databases - using the Microsoft Toolbar. The trouble we've encountered is that when User 2 clicks on the Microsoft Toolbar it wants her to log into User 1's database - even though the path is just to Access.exe. User 2 ends up having to join another workgroup (which leaves User 1's database unsecure as far as viewing) and then when User 1 wants to use her secure database (by clicking on the icon), she must join another workgroup to get her security back.

Is there any way both users can use the same cpu with one having a secure database and the other wanting to use pure Access without having to switch workgroups?

Thanks

You can use a command line switch to direct you to the proper workgroup file. You can put the switch in a shortcut on your desktop, so it will put you in automatically. That way, you don't have to join a different workgroup every time you want to use another database. Here's an example from one of my desktop shortcuts:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\msaccess.exe" "N:\YourFolder\YourDatabase" /WRKGRP "n:\YourMDW Folder\YourWorkgroupFile.MDW"

If you put this in the shortcut line, it should work (obviously, substitute your locations and file names).

You can also use switches to put in user name and password, compact the database, etc.

I forgot to add - if your database is secured properly, it's still secure if someone uses another .mdw file to access it. In fact, you can stop unauthorized users from even being able to look at your database.
