I am looking for the various alternatives for allowing users to enable call-forwarding (work phone to cell). Any suggestions to a solution without opening up potential for security concerns? I read a post around setting up a holiday table to automatically handle the calls, but this is more for when sales associates leave their office for several days at a time and don't want to miss calls.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

This has been brought many times here and I think the most secure solution has ended up being a remote coverage path. You use the normal cover path for during the day or when they are their and place a remote cover path for use with SAC.

Calls will follow the normal cover until SAC is hit. Then it will follow next linkage and follow the remote cover path. Have their number on their cell as the remote number. This restricts this to where you do not have to worry about toll fraud but still gives the user what they need.

If you need help in setting this up, let us know or do a search at the top of the page.

I use the remote access port. Users will the required COS can dial the remote access DID, dial the barrier code, then FAC, Extension, 9 1 201 XXX XXXX. Works fine. The remote access port has a COR with and FRL of 0 and an outward restriction, so I don't see a security issue there.

The remote acces port can also be disabled when there are X number of incorrect attempts at the barrier code. 'cha sys sec'

In addition to phoneguy55 suggestion, there is also "change telecommuting-access " If you enter the proper FAC digit sequence... it will change the extension coverage path to 2 or 1 depending on the digits entered... you'd need to set coverage path 2 to route externally per station etc...

You could also use IP softphone to forward if your company has VPN access...to your PBX.

You could also remote control a PC within network and have a modem with console permissions and use hyperterminal to dial the digits

You could use the receptionist to dial the digits for you... or some other peer.

Thanks,

The two methods I have success with is telecommuting-access and EC500. EC500 requires RTU and sings both phone and cell phone simultaneously when active.
