Secure use of CIM7

I'm trying to find a way to get CIM7 to work through a firewall that blocks SNMP. We can allow SMTP through the firewall, but we don't want to put a CIM7 server behind that firewall.

Any thoughts on how to get those alerts through the firewall without opening SNMP? (Since SNMP v1 is WAAAAAAY too easy to spoof.)
