Secure log on for Outlook

Hi All,<br>We have an Exchange Server 5.5. Our problem is that domain user can log onto any workstation and run Outlook that uses the default profile to open some one's email. Maybe we miss something here in terms of setting up the mail profile?<br><br>Does Outlook 97/98/2000 have any logon security? How can we<br>prevent any domain user from logging onto other person's Outlook?<br><br>Thanks. <br>

Clients are running Windows 98.

I'm not sure if I understand your opener correctly, but the only mailbox that should be accessible should be the one for the logged in user. The security is on the server side. <br>On 98 clients I have Outlook prompt the user for his/her profile. are you saying that any user can log onto any account??? this is possible if you have inherrant access i.e. administrators.<br><br>There are various options in outlook. You can set a default profile that is opened. You can turn NT security off which will force the user to enter account information. You can prompt for a profile to be selected.<br><br>If users are part of a group that is part of the permissions hierachy in Exchange they will be able to open any account. I'm not terribly sure if this is whats happenning as I don't fully understand the question.....given the date you posted this....hopefully its already sorted!!!!!!

I guess you have set the email delivery location to a pst and this pst is sitting on the client client computer or on a folder that has no permissions. If you set delivery location to Mailbox, then only the designated NT account should have access to the mailbox. If you want to maintain pst's, have each user of the workstation create their own profile and protect their respective pst's with passwords.<br>There are certainly different ways of maintaining privacy as far as email is concerned using Outlook and you just need to chose one among the many.<br>
