I have a client that I would like to upgrade to SBS2k8. They are bound by HIPPA and I would like to know the best approach to securing email with Exchange 2007. Of course, it needs to be as transparent to the users as well as the email recipients as possible. I have noticed a lot of threads on the INternet about S/MIME messages using a purchased certificate from thawte or godaddy etc.

And I'm fine with encrypting all email.

Take a look at this whitepaper about Exchange and HIPAA.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Mark, for some reason that whitepaper is not found. I click the download now and then register and it doesn't open or download the whitepaper. It takes me to a index page. Almost as if the whitepaper does not exist.

I created an ID and clicked submit and was able to download the PDF. I'd give it another try, the whitepaper is there.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks Mark. Got it. But it really doesn't address anything for me. It simple says I need 112-bit symmetric encryption and 1024-bit asymmetric encryption on email.

What I need to know is how to implement a SSL cert with this level of encryption on my exchange 2007 server so that my end users will send all email using this and the recipients can properly obtain the cert to open the emails.
