Can anyone tell me if it's possible to send secure e-mail via Enterprise. I'm hoping to be able to send mail directly to clients from Enterprise but it has to be secured and I can't see a way to do this?

More detail needed -

Which version of Enterprise..?

Are you sending the reports as attachments (eg. Excel, PDF, etc)..?

How do you define "secure" (eg. Encrypted message, Password protected file)...?

Sorry, should have been more specific.

I'm on Version XI and I'd be sending e-mail with pdf or XL attatchments. They would also be password protected but therecould be a need for encryption as well, different clients often use different methods with us!

You would need to use a third-paty tool for password protecting the PDF or XLS attatchments...there is no functionality like that in out-of-the-box XI.

We use the APOS Report Package Booster for this functionality, but it's not cheap.

As to doing true 128-bit encryption, I'm not sure if the APOS tool does that - you can also try looking on the 3rd party links on Ken's site...

Thanks for that, I thought it might need an add-on as I couldn't find anything at all. When you say it's not cheap do you have any ideas how much it is roughly?

You may want to consider a 3rd-party alternative among the Report Managers listed at:
My Visual CUT software provides 128-bit password protection and encryption of pdf exports, password protection of excel exports, as well as zip and password protection of any files. The password can be dynamic (provided by a Crystal Report field or formula). This allows you to burst a report and assign a different password to the exported files before automatically emailing them to each recipient.

- Ido

view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
