Hi guys,
I need to login to a w2K pro machine using the admin account but I cant have the administrator user ID to appear on the login dialog the next time the user logs in. I would prefer it say the users name. any ideas? thanks in advanced

Log out as admin, then type in the user name you want on the login screen.

Download the latest version of TweakUI from the microsoft website. Once installed there is a paranoia TAB. Click on this and you then have various tick boxes, one being the option to clear the user name each time you restart/logout of windows. Greg Palmer

Any feed back is appreciated.

And remember if it doesn't work just flush it down the toilet. [Flush]

Good call Greg. I was not aware there was a TweakUI for W2K.

You can configure Windows not to display the name of the last user who logged on with local policy.

Local Computer Policy >> Computer Configuration >> Windows Settings >> Security Settings >> Security Options >> Do not display last user Name in logon screen

For your purposes the easiest solution is to do as the previous poster advised: log off and type the name of any user you want in the logon window.

Local Security Settings
|
-> Local Policies
|
-> Security Options

There is a premade policy for this that you can enable. This should work. Policies are under admin tools.
